Hello all, just found the site today. It looks good. I live in SE Texas. Like to fish, fresh and salt, hunt and garden. Most of my crappie fishing is in Luces Bayou (lake Houston) and Lake Fork. Mostly on Fork. We have brush tops we have been building for several years and the fish like them :). They have not moved in to the area as of last weekend but it wont be long. We jig fish mostly but always have a minnow close by. We fish between hwy 154 and 515. This looks like a great site, I'd like to see it grow.
Ya'll be careful out there.

What about a 'HOW TO' forum? like how to tie a jig, build a crappie top, change lower unit oil, cure a cast iron skillet, boat ramp coutesy etc...a place where we can submit our ideas and new contraptions. I know I am new, it's just a thought.

Welcome jighed. I'm also new to the board and like your suggestions.

Could you explain what a crappie top is.

a crappie condo/brushtop that you put together made of various items like pvc or wood and sink in the lake in a well thought out location to attract or keep fish around. You'll also have to design and pour your own weight to keep it on bottm.

Unfortunately on the lake I fish the most, the C of E will only allow fish attractors to be placed in areas where the top of the attractor must be a minimum of 20 feet deep. They claim that this 20 foot depth is needed because of changing water levels.
