I went fishing for the first time last week in East Texas with a friend. I slammed the truck door on his rod, sux. We were out fishing for Crappie and wanted to get him a replacement rod. As I know almost nothing about fishing, I need some advice. The lake is has the usual stock, mostly Crappie, Bass, Catfish etc so wanted to get him something that works for most. I also wanted something discounted. What do you think of these?

I haven't used these rods before, but they appear to be designed specifically for crappie, which might be a little light for bass and catfish. If you don't know much about the rod, I would just go to Walmart and get a 6'6" or 7' medium light action rod. This should handle most general uses.

What kind of rods were the ones that got broken? This will give us a good idea of how to find a comperable rod to replace them with.

I use Pro Angler rods and I really like them. I plan to buy some more this spring. I caught a 9 lb flathead on one of the 120 footers. For Jigging, I like the 8 foot rod best,
