Mine is dipping jigs around timber/stumps in water 10' deep(pole deep) or less.

I love it when they smack it on the fall after you pitch it up around a stump:D

My favorite way is to cast tandem jigs in the shallows and feel that "THUMP" and to fight them all the way back to shore.

I will admit, I still have a fascination from my youth with seeing that ole red/white bobber go under, but my favorite is wading the shallows in late March and April. I love dabbling those jigs in tree roots and the cattails. Problem often times in West Texas is maintaining enough water in the Spring to have that type of fishing.

Some of my fondest memories from my youth (many years ago) were wading with my Dad at Lake Stamford with a cane pole, red/white bobbers and minnows fishing the cattails. Very few fished with jigs at that time, but the hand to hand combat with those huge bass and big crappie while in the water with them sure made some vivid memories. Of course, those huge water snakes made a big impression also. Seemed like all the crappie were large, but I doubt we ever caught the numbers that we do now.

Good Fishing,

Man, I was big on the crappie spawn in the spring and wintertime trolling, but that timberfishing got me hooked last spring. I started catching crappie last may, post spawn in 6 - 12 feet deep on jigs. I went three weeks straight after the first trip. After that Jerry and Paul made that timber fishing video and I started going to ray roberts and bent two props. :D

I'm ruined :)
